Reviews aren't showing on my storefront
- Confirm that the Spectre Reviews Loader app embed is enabled in Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds.
- Make sure you've added a Reviews block to the product page template.
- Check that the reviews you expect to see have an Active status in the app. If Auto-publish reviews is off, new reviews start as Pending and won't appear until you approve them.
- Open your browser's developer console and look for any network errors related to
/apps/spectre-reviews/.
The "Write a Review" button doesn't appear
The review submission form is part of the Reviews block. If you only added a Star Rating or Rating Summary block, the form won't be included. Add the full Reviews block to enable submissions.
Review request emails aren't being sent
- Go to Settings → Review Request Emails and confirm a From name and From email are configured.
- If using a custom domain, verify that the domain status shows Verified. Click Check Verification to refresh.
- Make sure the order has a customer email address. Orders without an email cannot receive review requests.
- Only one review request can be sent per order. If one was already sent, the app will resend to the same address.
Rich Snippets aren't appearing in Google
- Rich Snippets require the Pro plan or above.
- Confirm that Enable Google Rich Snippets is turned on in Settings.
- In the theme editor, make sure the Enable Rich Snippets toggle is on in the Reviews block settings.
- Google may take days or weeks to re-crawl your pages. Use Google's Rich Results Test to verify your structured data is present.
reCAPTCHA isn't working on the review form
- Confirm both the site key and secret key are entered in Settings → Spam Protection.
- Make sure the keys are for reCAPTCHA v2 (checkbox), not v3 or Enterprise.
- Verify that your reCAPTCHA site key is configured to allow your store's domain.
AI analysis isn't running on new reviews
- AI analysis requires the Pro plan or above.
- Check that Auto-analyze new reviews is enabled in Settings → AI Analysis.
- If you've used all your monthly AI credits, analysis will pause until credits reset at the start of your next billing period.
How do I migrate reviews from another app?
- Export your reviews from the other app as a CSV file.
- In Spectre, go to Import / Export in the sidebar.
- Click Download Template to see the expected column format.
- Map your existing CSV columns to match the template, then upload the file.
Can I customize the look of the review widget?
Yes. Each template has color settings in the theme editor's block settings panel. For more control, use the Custom CSS field in the block settings or target the CSS custom properties listed in Embedding & Publishing.
What happens when I uninstall the app?
When you uninstall Spectre Reviews AI, your review data is retained in the database for 30 days. If you reinstall within that window, your reviews will be restored. After 30 days, data is permanently deleted in accordance with Shopify's data-handling requirements.
How are votes tracked?
Votes are tracked by a combination of IP address and browser fingerprint. Each visitor can cast one vote (upvote or downvote) per review. Votes can be changed or removed.
What counts as an AI credit?
Each individual review analysis (sentiment + topics) costs 1 credit. Product summaries and product-level analysis also consume credits. Your monthly credit allocation resets at the start of each billing period.
