Core Features
Overview
Spectre Reviews AI covers the full review lifecycle — from collection and moderation to display and analysis. This page explains each major workflow.
Core features
Collecting reviews
Customers can leave reviews directly from your storefront or through a review-request email.
Storefront form fields:
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Star rating (1–5) | Yes | Click or tap to select |
| Review body | Yes | The main review text |
| Review title | No | A short headline |
| Author name | Yes | Displayed publicly |
| Author email | No | Not displayed publicly |
| Order number + zip code | No | Used for buyer verification |
| Photos / videos | No | Up to 5 files, 10 MB each |
When a customer provides a valid order number and zip code, the review receives a Verified Purchase badge.
If you have reCAPTCHA configured, the form will prompt for human verification before submission.
Review request emails
You can send an email to a customer asking them to review the products from their order.
- Open an order in the Shopify admin.
- Click the More actions menu and select Send review request (the Spectre action).
- The app sends a branded email with a link that pre-fills the customer's name and order details.
- When the customer submits through this link, their review is automatically marked as a Verified Purchase.
Review request links expire after 30 days. You can resend the email from the same order page if needed. Only one request can be active per order.
Tip: Customize the sender name and email address in Settings → Review Request Emails for on-brand communication.
Managing reviews
The Reviews page in the app gives you a filterable, searchable list of all reviews.
Available actions:
- Approve — Set a pending review to active so it appears on your storefront.
- Reject — Remove a review from public display.
- Mark as spam — Flag a review as spam.
- Archive — Hide a review from the list without deleting it.
- Delete — Permanently remove one or more reviews.
- Edit — Change the review content, rating, author info, or product assignment.
- Reply — Write a merchant reply that appears below the review on your storefront. One reply per review.
You can filter reviews by status (active, pending, rejected, spam, archived) and sort by date, rating, or sentiment.
Voting
Storefront visitors can upvote or downvote reviews. Vote counts are displayed on each review and used by the Most Helpful sort option.
AI sentiment analysis
On the Pro plan and above, Spectre can automatically analyze each new review and assign:
- A sentiment score from -1.0 (very negative) to 1.0 (very positive).
- A sentiment label: positive, neutral, or negative.
- Up to five topics extracted from the review text (e.g., "sizing", "quality", "shipping").
When auto-analysis is enabled, each new review consumes 1 AI credit. You can also analyze reviews manually from the review detail page.
AI product summaries
Spectre generates two AI summaries per product:
- Public summary — A customer-facing paragraph that summarizes what reviewers are saying. Displayed on the storefront if your plan supports it.
- Private summary — A merchant-facing summary with actionable insights, visible only in the app.
Summaries regenerate automatically when a product receives 5 or more new analyzed reviews.
AI insights dashboard
The AI page in the app shows store-wide and per-product analytics:
- Average sentiment score and breakdown (positive / neutral / negative).
- Top topics mentioned across all reviews.
- Product leaderboard ranked by sentiment.
- Analyzed vs. unanalyzed review counts.
CSV import and export
Use Import / Export in the sidebar to:
- Import reviews from a CSV file (useful when migrating from another app).
- Export all reviews or a filtered set to CSV.
- Download a template CSV to see the expected format.
